Perhaps I don't understand exactly what you're aiming at here, but
doesn't, "The DNSEXT WG group will actively advance DNS
protocol-related RFCs on the standards track, while defending against
further extensions of the DNS that are of questionable value," entail
the purposes?  That is, to advance protocol-reated RFCs and defend
against questionable extensions?
