Info about DNS relay

Hello:

I'm interested in knowing what is "DNS Relay", as
mentioned, in the specification sheets of some of the
Customer Premises Equipment of xDSL.

Is there any standards on what DNS relay is? What is
the functionalities supported by DNS relay? Anything
being looked at by DNS working group of IETF?
