Name server cache corruption

The message sent by Joyce yesterday was trashed by sendmail along the way
because of a dot in the first column of the error example.

The error output from nslookup is as follows:

This error will cause lookup failures, restarting named will clear the
problem for some period of time before the cache becomes corrupted again.
The problem has been seen in several networks and on diverse platforms.

Does anyone know the source of this problem?
